If your Bosch dishwasher is turning out dirty dishes consistently, one cause could be that it is not actually dispensing detergent as it should be. Not only will you find dirtier dishes, but it is likely that when you do open the detergent dispenser, you will find the detergent from the last wash still inside. This is a big sign that your dispenser is faulty and will need to be replaced.
Before you begin, you will need:
- Disconnect the dishwasher from the power source
- Shut off the water to the dishwasher
- A Phillips screwdriver
- A replacement detergent dispenser for your Bosch SHS5AV52UC dishwasher
Replacing a Detergent Dispenser in Your Dishwasher
Luckily for you, this repair only really requires you to take apart the door of your dishwasher and not uninstall the entire thing to get to the part in question. Start by opening your dishwasher and removing the screws along the inner edge of the door. Once the screws are removed, close the door and you can pull down on the outer door covering to remove it.
You can now pull out the wire harnesses from the rinse aid sensor and the dispenser’s wax motor. Lifting the locking tabs, you can now remove the old dispenser from inside of the dishwasher door
