There’s no reason to scream for ice cream when you have so many places in Cincinnati that are happy to serve you amazing frozen treats. Whether you like traditional cones and sundaes or something a little more innovative, here are 5 places to indulge in delicious ice cream:
Graeters: Thanks to their famous French Pot ice cream, Graeters has a national reputation. You might have seen them featured on the Food Network or heard Oprah Winfrey say that they’re the best ice cream she has ever tasted. Even the Cincinnati Zoo carries Graeters ice cream, including the one and only chip wheelies, which are chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches, in case you haven’t had the pleasure of enjoying one yet.
Buzzed Bull Creamery: There are some nonalcoholic choices here, but it’s mostly for grown-ups who like their handcrafted ice cream laced with liquor. You can even make your own concoctions exactly the way you want, unbuzzed or buzzed with regular, mid or top shelf alcohol.
Putz’s Creamy Whip: Would you believe they started out in a couple of trolley cars back in 1938? Now it’s a seasonal window-serve operation for soft-serve ice cream, as well as hot dogs and burgers. They even have their own street named Putz Place, and President Nixon rerouted an expressway that would have interfered with their back door.
Aglamesis Brothers: They’ve been serving ice cream and candy since 1908, now at a central location in Oakley Square where they have their own ice cream plant. You might want to save room for the fine chocolates.
Dojo Gelato: This is serious gelato. Their products are made from scratch each day in small batches with fresh ingredients. Visit their Findlay Market or Northside locations, and keep an eye out for their roaming trucks and carts.
