The primary water inlet valve in your LG refrigerator is responsible for bringing in water from the water source and sending it where it needs to go throughout your refrigerator. As such a crucial piece of your refrigerator, if it is faulty, it can manifest a number of problems. One of the biggest issues is that it will leak and cause water to pool around your refrigerator. If it is just not working at all, you will find no ice and no water dispensing through the refrigerator door. Of course, these problems can also have other causes. Replacing a Primary Water Inlet Valve in Your Refrigerator

As this repair deals with an area that can manifest in some water leakage, it is crucial that you make sure there is no power running to your refrigerator beforehand. You may also want a towel or two on hand to sop up any water left in the lines when you disconnect it.

After the refrigerator has been pulled out and disconnected, start by disconnecting the water line on the bottom panel of your refrigerator with a wrench. Expect some water spillage when it comes loose.

Now take your Phillips screwdriver and remove the screws securing the back panel so you can remove the panel. Now the water inlet valve should be able to be seen.

Remove the screws on the mounting bracket so that you can dismount the water valve. Depress the locking tab on the wire harness to disconnect it.

There should be a black C-clip connecting to a water hose. Squeeze the clip and it will allow you to gently pull the hose from the collar so that you can remove the inlet valve completely.

To install the new water inlet valve, it is very much like disassembling it in reverse. Be sure to start by inserting the previously removed hose back into the new collar and C-clip before remounting it in the refrigerator.
