The Play That Goes Wrong
This farcical comedy runs one week only from November 27 through December 2, with evening performances and a matinee on Saturday and Sunday. This is the first tour for The Play That Goes Wrong around the country. Co-written by Mischief Theatre members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, this is a part of the Broadway Across America tour. In London, The Play That Goes Wrong won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
A 1920’s whodunit, the play features a corpse who can’t stay dead, a leading lady with a concussion, and a set that is very much in disarray. The play opens with the backstage staff trying to make last-minute repairs just as the curtain goes up. Catch it at Procter and Gamble Hall.
A Christmas Carol
This Charles Dickens’ favorite opens Wednesday, November 21 and runs through Saturday, December 29. A family story, Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and the rest come to life on the Marx Theatre in a show suitable for ages five and up.
Published in 1843, A Christmas Carol tells a rather dark tale of the hardships of a poor section of London during the Industrial Revolution of the 1800’s. The miserly Scrooge is visited by his former, deceased partner Jacob Marley and three ghosts all on one Christmas Eve. Enlightened by their visits and the lonely life he is living, Scrooge decides to share some of his wealth with some local charities, and most of all by offering a large promotion to his employee, Cratchit.
